Terms of Service

Please read these terms carefully

Last Updated: September 17, 2026

This platform is run by the AZX Online Student Committee ("we") for students and alumni of ASU's Chinese-language online programs. These terms are the agreement between you and us, written in plain language on purpose.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing and using this platform, you accept and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use our services.

2. Eligibility

To use this platform, you must:

  • Have a valid @asu.edu email address
  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Comply with all applicable laws and regulations

3. User Conduct

You agree not to:

  • Harass, abuse, or harm other users
  • Post spam or unsolicited content
  • Impersonate others or misrepresent your affiliation
  • Post illegal, offensive, or inappropriate content
  • Interfere with the platform's operation or security

4. User Content

You keep ownership of what you post. By posting, you grant us a non-exclusive licence to store, display, distribute and process your content on the platform (including for moderation, search and recommendations). When you delete content or close your account it is removed from public pages; copies in backups and moderation records are cleared within a reasonable period.

5. Content rules and moderation

This is a student community, and its rules are more specific than the law. Posts, comments, course reviews, group information and profile text must not contain:

  • violence, terrorism, or incitement of hatred or harm against any group
  • illegal trade or instruction: weapons, drugs, gambling, fraud, forged documents
  • contract cheating in any form — taking exams or writing assignments for others, selling answers — which also violates ASU's academic integrity policy
  • abuse or harassment of an individual, doxxing, or publishing someone's private information without consent
  • sexual content or solicitation of sexual services
  • content that encourages or instructs self-harm or suicide (if you are going through a hard time, MindDock lists resources where a real person answers 24 hours a day)

Everything is screened automatically before it appears (a word list plus an AI classifier). Clearly violating content is refused with a reason; borderline content is held unpublished until a committee member has reviewed it. Any signed-in member can report a post or comment; the author is not told who reported. The committee may take down, hide or delete violating content and, depending on severity, warn, restrict or terminate an account.

If you believe a decision was wrong, edit and resubmit, or appeal through the contact details at the foot of this page; a committee member who was not involved in the original decision will re-review.

6. Shared course experience

A course review must be based on your own experience of taking that course. Reviews are published after committee review, and reviewers stay anonymous (the AI study companion does not reveal a reviewer's identity when quoting a review either). Personal attacks on instructors, false accusations and content unrelated to the course are not allowed. Reviews are individual student opinions, not the position of ASU or of us.

7. AI features

The Study Companion and the MindDock listener are artificial-intelligence programs, not people, and every conversation page says so throughout. AI answers can be inaccurate, incomplete or out of date; course information from the companion comes only from published reviews on this platform and is labelled with its source. AI-generated content is not academic, legal, medical or psychological advice; base important decisions on official information and qualified people. You may not use the AI features to generate or spread content that violates these terms, or attempt to bypass the safety mechanisms we have put in place.

8. MindDock

MindDock offers self-help tools and companionship: public standardised self-assessments, a mood check-in, micro-practices and an AI listener. It is not counselling, assessment, diagnosis or treatment and does not replace a qualified professional; assessment results are for your own reflection. We are not a healthcare or mental-health provider and hold no professional licence. When a conversation or an assessment shows a self-harm signal, the system interrupts the AI and shows resources where a real person answers; we only show resources and will not contact you or any third party. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call your local emergency number (911 / 988 in the US, 110 / 120 in mainland China).

9. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account for violating these Terms or for any other reason at our sole discretion.

10. Disclaimer

The platform is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of any content or services.

11. Governing law and where you are

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Arizona, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. You must also comply with the laws where you are; users in mainland China must also follow local rules on online information content. The platform is run by a student organisation and does not represent Arizona State University; ASU's name and marks are used in accordance with university policy.

12. Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
